Owing to the major financial constraint the grandeur of the season might not be found here. Many families cannot afford gifts and to this poorer section Christmas presents come as clothes, books, food, medicines and other basic necessities. Volunteers from churches go from door to door singing Christmas carols and they in turn get alms which they use for charity. It is summer in Africa people also decorate their houses with different summer plants and flowers. They also celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus by fireworks.

The main course of the Christmas feast will include goat, rice, beef, okra soup, fufu (yam paste) and the dessert will include biscuits and chocolates.
